The Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV; (英語:Federal University of Viçosa)) is a federal university in the city of Viçosa, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. In 2010 enrollment was over 15,000 students. Viçosa is a technical university and offers courses in engineering, agronomy, veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and other areas related to science. The university began as the Higher College of Agriculture and Veterinary Science created in 1922 but with classes only beginning in 1927. In 1948 it was transformed into the Rural University of Minas Gerais. It was federalized in 1969 with its present name. The university has begun multiple exchange programs with the southern U.S. states of Florida and Georgia.
